Walking on the bright side of life

God’s Everlasting Love March 8, 2011

God’s Everlasting Love
31 What then shall we say to these things? vIf God is for us, who can be against us? 32 wHe who did not spare His own Son, but xdelivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? yIt is God who justifies. 34 zWho is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, awho is even at the right hand of God, bwho also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:

c“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

37 dYet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor eprincipalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The simple joys February 23, 2011

Lately, I developed a new lunchtime routine. After my meal, i’d walk to a nearby cafe. Sitting outdoors, I’d have either some fruit or yoghurt as I people-watch. It’s a relatively quiet corner, you see a couple of flashy cars drive by the roads, some moms grocery shopping with their cute lil’ babies, office workers coming out for a quick bite…

Today, as I licked my yoghurt off my spoon, i thought about how much fun it is to be able to share a dessert with your loved ones. To fight for the last bite of cake, or last sip of drink… That’s a sweet memory that made me smile.

Life’s simple moments can bring so much joy, if you let it. And yes, that’s something Sherman and I always do when we eat. But he’s sweet enough to let me win. All the time. 😉

Busy Bumble Bee January 29, 2011

I had a really busy bumble bee week and boy, am I glad the weekend is here! Saturday morning was spent at home, catching up on my desperately needed sleep, followed by a home-cooked lunch with my mom before heading out for major shopping and movie date with Mr. S.

Chinese New Year is right around the corner, I can’t wait for plenty of steamboat meals, snacking on the goodies (think bak kwa, love letters, pineapple tarts) and of course, this is my last year of collecting ang pows. Let’s go baby!

Meanwhile, here are the five things that made my week 🙂

Eye mask to save me from panda eyes!

Lovely colours for DIY mani/pedi

Got these cute little rings from a flea market!

I cried. I'm a sucker for romance movies like that. (How hot is Anne Hathaway huh?!)

Look at this beautiful vintage floral dress I found in my mom's wardrobe! So pretty!

I saw this cute little card and it pretty much sum up my week so far. I’m on sick leave for 2 days. Although I feel really bad about leaving my colleagues short-handed, I keep telling myself to listen to my body. I need rest. I need to get better. Aside from forcing myself to take the meds and sleeping the day away, here are the five things that made me smile.

{Pretty flowers to brighten up my day}

{Gossip Girl - Chick read for the sick}

{Loading up on vitamin C}

{Red nails, in the mood for CNY}

{My motivation to get well, so that I can sink my teeth into this lovely warm chocolate lava cake!}

In sickness and in health January 15, 2011

This week has been really trying as I battled a nasty flu bug whilst struggling with school and work. But I made it through all thanks to thinking happy thoughts 🙂

  1. One of my bestest friends came back from the states and we caught up like old times. It amuses me how some things never change, like how she still ask for coke everywhere we go. (Wish we took a picture though!)
  2. End. Of. School. This is it, I have offically attended my last lecture in SIM. There is no greater way to end it by having Mr. Brown as our guest lecturer. I swear I was laughing so hard, I cried! But yes, no more school. Ahhh, the sweet smell of freedom!!!
  3. Burlesque! Christina Aguilera made singing look SO easy. And sexy. So good, I don’t mind watching it again.
  4. Steamboat dinner on a cool, rainy night.
  5. Groccery shopping! I have a thing for supermarkets. Walking down aisles of fresh produce and everyday things makes me incredibly excited. I’m not quite sure why!

I will be back with more photos and interesting updates once I kick this nasty bug in the butt. Now, rest. Zzz.

The First Five January 10, 2011

The start of the new year is always harsh. After weeks of holidays, it seems harder to get the “engine” to start. I had a very busy first week, with school and work going at full force. Good news is, I will be completing my final module in another week!

So here are the five things that made me smile this week:

1. Being by the beach instantly calms me down. It is truly my happy place. Over the weekend, I accompanied Sherman down to the beach since he was itching to windsurf. I laid out a mat and sat by the beach, reading a book, people-watching and just enjoying the sea breeze. The weather was deliciously cool (I was wearing a sweater!) and I fell asleep for a good half an hour. Bliss.

2. I recently signed up for a yoga membership near my workplace and I have really been enjoying bikram yoga. It is a 90 minutes class with a series of 26 poses, all done in a heated room. I’m so hooked on it, I don’t even mind waking up at 5am just to squeeze in a class before work on some days. Yeah, I’m that hardcore.

3. One night, Sherman and I went to this cute little place called The Biscuit King. I swear it has all kinds of childhood knick-knacks you can ever find in Singapore! Magic dust is no childhood stuff, but I was craving for candy and this caught my eye. A perfect snack for long boring night lectures! 😉

4.  If you haven’t read this yet, I strongly recommend it. It got me laughing out loud a couple of times and some never fails to make my heart melt. Such a sweetheart.

5. The rain. I absolutely love the rain this time of the year. Everything just feels that much more cozy and warm. I’d love to spend the day snuggling with a hot cuppa tea and a book but oh well, good weather nevertheless. It gives us the perfect excuse to do silly things like writing “I love you” on the car windows *giggles*

What are your happy things? Share them with me please! 😀
